THE BENEFITS OF BUNDLING – HOW ARE CARRIERS RE-DEFINING THE CONTENT AND
TELCO RELATIONSHIP?

What is content without quality of service? Many can empathise with these challenges and as the content service provider market become increasingly crowded, businesses are understanding the crucial role of a good network. This session will look at one of the leaders in this field and how adoption of the bundling business model has affected them.

PANEL DISCUSSION: CONTENT, CARRIERS AND COMMUNICATION – ARE WE LOOKING AT AN EXCLUSIVELY OTT FUTURE?

While service providers have long hypothesised the potential in leveraging OTT services to differentiate their service, it seems that we are in an age of making these potentials a reality. While the benefits for telcos to expand their VAS are clear, how are OTTs utilising telcos to expand their reach and improve their services?

How have carriers and OTTs worked together to further the success of their services? With a recent release of an OTT pirate box, how are content providers and carriers overcoming this?
How essential is an “all – IP” infrastructure to the success of next Gen partnerships?
What is the potential for carriers to develop themselves as digital service providers and digital service enablers? What are the benefits of each? Are we seeing more investment of one over the other?
Overcoming the complexities and challenges of creating the ideal partnership between a carrier and an OTT – what can each party do to further enhance the conversation?

CONNECTING CAPABILITIES: TO WHAT EXTENT CONNECTEDNESS CAN BE USED TO ACHIEVE DIGITAL

In cooperation with our Thought Leadership Partner: TELSTRA

Access to high quality digital infrastructure, an educated and technically literate workforce and a well-functioning technology ecosystem are the building blocks of success for companies and countries alike in the connected world. This is increasingly important as many companies have little choice but to transform themselves digitally in the face of overwhelming digital disruption created by new technologies, new competitors and new behaviours.

In partnership with The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), Telstra has recently released a global research project called ‘Connecting Capabilities: The Asian Digital Transformation,’ which explores the building blocks for success in a digitally disrupted world and highlights the countries and industries that are best creating an environment for change.

The report also includes the first ever Asian Digital Transformation Index, a quantitative ranking of 11 major Asian markets on how they’re doing on 20 different indicators across three different categories – digital infrastructure, human capital and industry connectedness.

SECURITY PANEL DEBATE: CAN WE EVER, TRULY BE IN A SECURE POSITION?

In cooperation with our Thought Leadership Partner: TELSTRA

Does virtualisation simply open the door to further data breaches? Or is there a way for the technology to develop further defences?
Recently carriers have agreed to support each other and exchange cyber security intelligence, does this mean that security is moving to the top of the priority list?Is security a viable service that data centres and carriers can provide?
Can cloud service providers play a vital role in security at the network layer? Can they prove software or applications to prevent DDoS attacks?

PANEL DISCUSSION: VIRTUALISATION – WHAT ARE THE KEY STEPS TO NEXT-GEN SOFTWARE ADOPTION

Data centres are evolving beyond just necessary storage to a strategic asset to many carriers. However, what does this mean to current data centres and how must they adapt to cater for increasingly complex data requirements? With SDN and NFV rollout gaining momentum, what will the effects of these technologies have on the data centre, cloud service provider and carrier relationships?

Where is the biggest potential in virtualisation?
Who are the leaders in SDN and NFV deployment? Are both technologies necessary?
With a virtualised system, will the potential of Big Data eventually be realised?
Network virtualisation is occurring on both the carrier and data centre side, however while SDN originated as a data centre technology it does not mean that it has been rolled out in the same way for carriers, what are the steps to making SDN work fluidly between the two? Does the open-source approach provide the solution?
With the growing emphasis on hyper converged platforms (rather than traditional standalone data centre infrastructure) how are cloud providers moving towards this more agile approach?
How will NFV improve ROI?
With such new and dynamic challenges, how are carriers addressing the challenges with finding people with the right skill set?
What impact will SN have on cloud service providers?

Moderator: Sam Evans, Partner, REDSHIFT STRATEGY
Dr. Zhongmin Guo, VP, Asia Market Developments, COLT TECHNOLOGY SERVICES
Diarmid Massey, VP, Sales Asia-Pacific, EQUINIX
Mike Segal, VP International Business Development, ROOT DATA CENTER
Joe Zhu, Founder and CEO, ZENLAYER

10:00am
PANEL DISCUSSION: FROM CARRIER TO DIGITAL SERVICE PROVIDER – WILL THE INTERNET OF THINGS CHANGE THE FUNDAMENTAL FUNCTION OF CARRIERS?

Many envision an Internet of Things future, and many carriers will play an essential role in this. However, what are the fundamental elements that carriers need to include in order to deliver the instantaneous, agile system needed to deliver a future of smart cities, cars and homes?

As IoT relies heavily on constant communication, how will carriers adapt to playing in a borderless eco-system?
How can carriers digest data to improve service?
How essential is it for data centres to be software-centric to the success of IoT deployment?
How are carriers preparing their data centre assets for IoT? And how can they monetise their role in IoT?
Will the coming of 5G pose another step in the role of carriers?

Moderator: Sam Evans, Partner, REDSHIFT
Andy Cocks, CTO, DIMENSION DATA

THE CARRIER AND THE CLOUD: WHAT WILL THE RELATIONSHIP LOOK LIKE?

Many have identified ownership of network as one of the key determining factors when choosing cloud services. However we have started to see carriers and cloud providers working together, yet with each playing to their strengths, what impact does this have on the future?

► What will this do to the carriers continuing to provide cloud services?
► How important is the network in cloud service delivery?
► How is the problem of customer ownership being addressed?
► What are the different examples of billing and pricing structures between the two businesses?

Moderator: Brianna Boudreau, Senior Analyst, TELEGEOGRAPHY
