PANEL DISCUSSION: COMPETITION VS. CONSOLIDATION- WHAT IS DRIVING FUTURE INVESTMENT IN CENTRAL AND EASTERN EUROPE?

Following on from a global trend of consolidation and diversification within the telecommunications industry, Central and Eastern Europe is beginning to show signs of a maturing market, not only with an increase in M&A activity but also a shift towards carriers acquiring or partnering with new companies within different industries such as banking or energy. What do these growing trends indicate about the overall state of the market and which direction are operators leaning towards, consolidation or competition

-
What is the reasoning behind moving into different industries and where does this lie within the overall business mode

- With the reduction in the number of players in the region, how are companies maintaining their competitive edge?

- How are regulators managing M&A activity in the region? What regulations have been put in place to ensure the market doesn’t become a monopoly?

- How is M&A activity helping operators to meet growing demands within enterprise services?

PANEL DISCUSSION: THE SMART TRANSITION FROM VOICE TO DATA

It is a truth universally acknowledged within the wholesale telecommunications industry that voice revenues have been and will continue to be, in decline. As a result of this, companies are transitioning into a more data focused market but is this as straight forward as it seems?

- How exactly are companies shifting away from minutes and how will this transition take place?

- With a drop in prices for data, what are operators doing to ensure that their revenues aren’t affected negatively?

- Are operators exploring the possibilities of creating tiering on data packages and how would this work?

- With VoIP on the rise, how are carriers bringing this new service into their business and what changes do they need to implement to make such services profitable?
