PANEL DISCUSSION: DISCOVERING THE UNTAPPED POTENTIAL IN TERRESTRIAL AND SUBSEA ROUTES ACROSS EURASIA
Turkey has long been established as a gateway between Asia and Europe, and Istanbul specifically as a hub for telecoms, due to its strategic geographic location for terrestrial and subsea cable routes. It also features heavily in the Digital Silk Road. Eurasia’s strength is central land mass and this offers the potential for diversified routes, both terrestrial and subsea. This session will assess the potential for new routes across the region.

•     In the constant quest for low latency, what are the potential alternative routes?
•     Are network upgrades necessary, or being implemented, to maintain a competitive stance in the region?
•     Is it possible to weigh up the benefits of subsea vs terrestrial cables?
•     What is the impact of Caspian Sea and Black Sea cable systems on terrestrial networks?
•     What is the impact of Caspian Sea and Black Sea cable systems on subsea cable networks e.g. SEA-ME-WE5?

KEYNOTE PANEL DISCUSSION: EVERY CLOUD DOES NOT HAVE AN IMPENETRABLE LINING - EVALUATING CYBER SECURITY FOR DATA CENTRES AND CLOUD SERVICE PROVIDERS
With exponential growth in demand for connectivity, the need for developments in cyber security has arguably been overlooked. This is a particular concern for data centres and cloud service providers, which hold extremely valuable data on behalf of a wide range of organisations, with enormous implications if a secure network is breached. However, in the age of expanded service offerings, perhaps this is an opportunity not to be missed.

•     What are the specific cyber security challenges affecting data centres and cloud service providers?
•     What defence mechanisms are being put in place?
•     How could AI and machine learning improve companies’ defence mechanisms to become more secure in the face of a cyber-attack?
•     How can enterprises and customers be educated about the risks, as a precautionary measure?
•     What are the risks and opportunities attached to the decentralisation of data to the edge?

PANEL DISCUSSION: PROFIT-PRODUCING PLATFORMS - ANALYSING THE ROLE OF OTTs AND VALUE-ADDED SERVICES IN THE TELECOMS ECOSYSTEM
As the wholesale market becomes more saturated, the focus is increasingly on diversifying the range of services, to obtain and retain customers and develop new revenue streams. OTTs are heating up the competition for operators, but now operators are catching on and the balance could shift again.

•     How are operators co-operating with international partners to increase revenue streams from OTT services?
•     How are OTTs adapting to operators' development of OTT services to remain competitive?
•     What are OTTs doing to ensure quality of service for the end user?
•     What lessons can telcos learn from OTTs?
•     What are operators doing to avoid becoming dumb pipes?
•     How can content and traffic be held in Turkey?
•     What are the benefits of developing localised content, such as effect on capacity demand?
•     How do censorship and regulations apply when content leaves Turkey?
•     What are the benefits of some value-added services over others?
