2016 Agenda

PRE-EVENT: SUNDAY 6 NOVEMBER

7:00pm - 8:30pm

BIENVENUE - WELCOME RECEPTION

When the wholesale telecoms community gathers once again in Paris, it is time to celebrate. There is no better way to prepare yourself for three non-stop days of meetings, learning and negotiating than a drink with your colleagues and partners. Enjoy listening to relaxing jazz grooves while you catch-up with clients and make some new initial connections with many new faces.

DAY ONE: MONDAY 7 NOVEMBER

8:30am - 10:00am

NETWORKING BREAKFAST

Sponsored by Verizon

10:00am - 11:00am

PANEL DISCUSSION: WHOLESALE & ENTERPRISE – CREATING PARTNERSHIPS FOR CHANGING BUSINESS NEEDS

In a time when wholesale is increasingly eyeing enterprise as a sector for growth (the industry that has often admitted to being behind its retail sibling when it comes to innovation) carriers are forced to step up their game. In today’s competitive business climate, enterprises are looking for partners to not only deliver network reliability and security, but also to provide flexibility and agility to evolve international connectivity alongside their shifting demands. Gathering experience from both carriers and enterprises, this session will debate successes and failures in past partnerships and highlight future opportunities.

11:00am - 11:30am

COFFEE AND NETWORKING BREAK

11:30am - 12:30pm

PANEL DISCUSSION: VIRTUAL SECURITY – WE KNOW IT IS IMPORTANT, BUT WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE?

Operators are under constant threat and attacks change daily. With the inevitable virtualisation of networks, the potential target for hackers only seems to increase. Constant vigilance and flexible multi-faceted solutions are required to ensure data security and safeguard uninterrupted services.

12:30pm - 1:15pm

PANEL DISCUSSION: FROM COMMUNICATION TO CLOUD – HOW TO STAY AHEAD OF THE COMPETITION IN THE CLOUDSCAPE

A recent global survey of CIO-buying intentions conducted by data storage vendor Western Digital reveals that 61% of major enterprises are holding or increasing their spend on cloud budgets this year. The convergence of telcos and ICT is an undeniable trend in the industry and while many carriers have aggressively moved into this space, with intentions of seeing it as a new revenue stream, it is no longer enough to provide Infrastructure-as-a-service. Carriers need to guarantee the quality and performance of cloud services end to- end (and much more) to stay ahead of the curve, yet does the carrier market lack the expertise to make this a reality?

1:15pm - 2:45pm

NETWORKING LUNCH

Sponsored by Sparkle

5:30pm - 7:00pm

“WE LOVE MONDAYS” DRINKS RECEPTION

We know Mondays can be hard work, but with music in the air and a drink in hand whilst catching up with your colleagues on the day’s progress or toasting to newly formed partnerships, it has got the potential to turn into the best day of the week.

DAY TWO: TUESDAY 8 NOVEMBER

9:00am - 10:00am

NETWORKING BREAKFAST

10:00am - 11:00am

PANEL DISCUSSION: A CONVERSATION ON CONTENT – HOW DO WE FUTURE PROOF FOR THE NEXT GENERATION OF CONTENT CONSUMPTION?

It has been predicted that in the next 10 years, next-generation media technologies, wearables and IoT related advances will create important new opportunities for content and application providers to deliver highly innovative, in some cases disruptive, services over the internet. Yet what does the road map look like to this connected future?

11:00am - 11:30am

COFFEE AND NETWORKING BREAK

Sponsored by Telenor

11:30am - 12:30pm

PANEL DISCUSSION: SDN – THE THREE LETTERS RE-DEFINING THE FUTURE OF CARRIER SERVICES?

A world no longer dependent on switches, routers and other physical gear, is the aim of the SDN-game and while the conversation has been had over many years (with some carriers claiming to have having deployed it over 15 years ago), where does the industry currently stand on SDN deployment?

PANEL DISCUSSION: 150 YEARS LATER - FINDING NEW ROUTES UNDER THE SEA

In July 1866 the first trans-Atlantic submarine cable constructed by the Atlantic Telegraph Company was put into service. Today, the world connects more than 320 of these cables, but bandwidth problems, latency issues, and political conflicts mean that telcos around the globe continue to explore new routes for faster and more reliable services. Current projects include cables from Africa to South America, Brazil to the USA and plans to link Canada, Europe and Japan via the Arctic Ocean. This session will explore the future of submarine connectivity – what will the next 150 years have in store?
